A soulmate synastry calculation with asteroids

I found an interesting calculation of synastry on the web. It’s not totally true that you will get a relationship with the person you got this synastry with, but it gives clues that something is happening between the two of you, and there is potential for a (soulmate) relationship.

One of the greatest applications of astrology is love and relationship compatibility analysis. The most evolved love, unconditional to the core, forgiving, sacrificing and full of joy is the love that can only be experienced by true soul mates. Conventional science and orthodox religion are unaware of past life metaphysics but those who have experienced past lives through hypnotic regression or sudden dreams will testify to knowing the people of “then” and their current incarnations in the now.

And the happiest couples will always “feel” as if they know their mate for lifetimes, that their chance encounter in this life is more like a deja vu, and that the soul mate entered their life after a huge crisis, seeing them through the rough seas into a lifetime of joyful sailing.

Some “past life” mates may also enter our lives in tough times, playing the role of parent figure, friend, helpful sibling or generous business partner. Some may actually drag us down by making us repeat past life mistakes, these are nothing but past life scenarios and “karmas” being played out for atonement and eventual balance. However, in this topic we will see what in a couple’s chart can indicate a true loving soul mate for the happiest relationship.

Can be used as Male to Female or vice versa

Aspect Orbs:
Conjunction
a) Maximum 3.0 degrees Orb when Ascendant, Sun, Moon and Venus are involved.
b) Maximum 2.0 degrees Orb for Asteroids, Mars, Saturn, Pluto when a) is not involved.

Trines, Quincunx and Opposition
a) Maximum 2.0 degrees Orb when Ascendant, Sun, Moon and Venus are involved.
b) Maximum 1 degree 30 minutes Orb for Asteroids, Mars, Saturn, Pluto when a) is not involved.

The synastry calculator may give invalid results if there is less than 40 days difference between the couple.

For reference:
[Generic Love Objects] = AMOR, VALENTINE, EROS, JUNO

[Generic Fate Objects] = N Node, Saturn, Karma, Tyche, Fortuna, Destinn
Universal Filter Rule:
=======================
Ascendant of either person must conjunct a Generic Love Object, a Generic Fate Object or any of these:
Asc, Dsc, Sun, Moon, Mars, Venus, Pluto and Asteroids UNION and ANGEL.
Maximum 3 degrees orb.
Ascendant trine/opp Asc, Dsc, Moon, Sun, Saturn or Karma within 2 degrees orb is also valid.

If this is not true, proceed further with caution as the couple cannot be true love relationship soulmates, even though happiness cannot be ruled out.
If birth time is unknown, the Sun can be used in place of Ascendant and Sun conjunct Moon should not be used as a confirmation.

For the following, we have a Soulmate Attraction, 5 pts
==========================================================
Valid Aspects: Conjunction, Opposition, Quincunx and Trine.
Orbs: 3 degrees for Conjunction, 2 degrees for others.

Pluto aspect Persephone or Proserpine
Zeus aspect Hera
Eros aspect Psyche
Mars aspect Venus
Osiris aspect Isis
Adonis aspect Innanen
Fated-SoulMate Pair Linking Aspects: 3 pts
==========================================
This is complex and needs a thorough check.
If any SoulMate pair is linked through the same fate Object, add 3 points.

example:
A’s Zeus quincunx B’s Saturn and A’s Saturn opp B’s HERA is a valid link.
A’s Pluto conj B’s Destinn and A’s Destinn trine B’s Persephone or B’s Proserpine is also valid.

Note: Dangerous Aspect that needs an astrologer’s opinion is negative
aspects to Nessus and Dejanira.
Male’s Nessus/Pluto/Mars squaring Female’s Dejanira even by 3 degrees is dangerous.
Other negative aspects are of Asteroid Swindle/Lie. Any guy with Neptune conjunct Swindle or Lie squaring the girl’s Dejanira has chances of taking her for a ride.
Standard negative aspects are Mars sq Mercury, Neptune sq Mercury and Saturn sq/opp Pluto
but these can be tackled with a higher overall score.

30+ is a very good starting point.

Dark sexual relationship synastry top 5

1. Moon/Pluto does not have to be dark sexual but if any planetary aspect would be, it would be this. Moon conjunct Pluto is the strongest of the Moon/Pluto aspects because the conjunction trumps any other aspect in strength. Think sitting next to a roaring fire. In the conjunction, the planets are next to each other( or on top of each other in the exact conjunction).

Moon/Pluto as a conjunction is not dark , per se. It is very, very powerful. When/if that turns bad, it could become dark. However, Moon/Pluto in conjunction does not have to turn bad. It is a true soul mate aspect, to me. It is the passion of lovers and the pure, primal love of a mother for her baby. Powerful, you say? YES

Moon/Pluto in a trine is very powerful, too. It is not as intense as the conjunction but very intense, nonetheless. This is not a dark aspect, either.

Moon oppose Pluto and Moon square Pluto could tend to be dark because they are powerful and not with a harmonious flow. We are dealing with very primal emotions here and we all know what primal emotions and passions can do if a person is not careful. If you see Moon oppose or square Pluto, don’t play with the person. If you want to end it, be upfront and be kind. Playing with someone’s emotions when these aspects are involved could lead to bad things such as violence.

2. Mars/Pluto

Mars/Pluto is more primal in a pure sexual way than Moon/Pluto which is more emotional and much more emotionally bonded. You can have Mars/Pluto with a fling and not feel a thing in your emotions. We have the same kind of weighting with the conjunction, trine, opposition and square as we did above.

To summarize, I would say that Mars/Pluto could be passionate sex and passionate emotions but no soul.If a chart had no Moon aspects and Mars/Pluto aspects, I would say it would be a fling.

3. Now, we come to things that could really make the relationship dark. The first would be Nessus

Nessus is the abuser’s asteroid. I, always, have people want  to tell me that Nessus is not alwaysabuse. To me, it always is. The exception would be the person who overcame it through God. However, this person would have to play it out before he overcame it. If you see Nessus in synastry, make sure you know which side of the fence he is on. To be honest, few people overcome Nessus. It can be done but it is rare that someone reaches that level of spiritual mastery. I have seen it in a few people, only.

4. Another asteroid that is dark is Dejanira. Dejanira is the victim asteroid. People tell me the same thing they tell me with Nessus. “Not all people with a prominent Dejanira are victims” I disagree.I think they will be until they can truly overcome it with God. Many people say they have overcome things but I watch their actions and see they are lying. They are deceiving themselves, would be a better way to say it. The chart allows one to see oneself. That is why it is so powerful. That is why I don’t mince words. It is disrespect to Astrology which I love and respect.

To put it plainly, if you have a dominant Nessus, you will be an abuser. If you have a dominant Dejanira, you will be a victim. If you do not have either of these in the natal but have them in synastry, it will play out the same way. In other words, if a man’s Nessus conjuncts your ASC, he will abuse you, in my opinion. If a man’s Nessus conjuncts, your Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars or North Node, he will abuse you, in my opinion. If your Dejanira conjuncts his ASC, Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, Venus or NN, you will be his victim.

Before I leave this subject, I will add my theory. This is based on experience and charts, as are all my theories. I think the Nessus/Deja relationship in synastry is a re-play of childhood abuse. That is why it is so powerful. That is why it feels so life and death. It brings you back to the time when you were a child and truly powerless.

5. Uranus/Mars in synastry can be kinky. This is not dark sexual, per se. However, if you have Nessus/Dejanira and Mars/Uranus, particularly in hard aspect( opposition and square), it may make for dark spice, shall we say. the reason this is the case is that Mars is sexual drive( all drives actually). Uranus is kink, so you do the math.

Synastry of bad sex

Sure, Astrology can give us indications of great sex in synastry, but can it indicate bad sex, too? Here are some aspects which may indicate sexual incompatibility. Note: These aspects, on their own, do not necessarily indicate “bad sex”. Supportive aspects can negate these influences.

Mars square/opposite Mars:

In astrology, Mars represents our sexual style. When your Mars squares another person’s Mars, it indicates that your sexual styles are at odds. You express your sexuality in different ways, which can indicate sexual incompatibility. Squares cause friction, so it may be difficult to reconcile these sexual differences. Your body rhythms may not match well, which can result in disappointment for both of you. For example, Mars in Taurus natives enjoy natural, physical sexual expressions. They are not fond of spontaneity or variety when it comes to love-making. If a Mars in Taurus person partnered up with a Mars in Aquarius person, this may spell trouble. Mars in Aquarius intellectualizes sex, which may confuse the Mars in Taurus person. Mars in Aquarius seeks plenty of variety in sex, and tends to enjoy the “idea” of sex more than the act itself. This would obviously be a problem for sensual Mars in Taurus, who needs plenty of physical contact to be satisfied.  The opposition is not as problematic as the square, but the sexual differences remain.

Mars square Saturn:

Saturn is the planet of restriction and discipline, while Mars is the planet of sex and aggression. When these two planets collide in synastry, sexual problems may plague the couple. Saturn may block, hamper, or limit Mars’ sexuality. Saturn may feel disappointed with Mars’ performance in bed, generating anger and hostility between the couple. This can result in the decline of Mars’ self-confidence when it comes to sexual matters.

Mars square Uranus:

Hard aspects from Uranus to another person’s planets in synastry often indicate an on-off energy in regards to the planet involved. This aspect doesn’t necessarily indicate “bad” sex, but can indicate sudden shifts in sexual interest on the part of the Uranus person. At first, the sex is likely to be electric and fulfilling, but over time, the Uranus person may tire of the sex and seek excitement somewhere else.

Lets talk about what repulses us in a person. I have to start with Moons, as they are one’s deepest heart. I do not think Moon square Moon can sustain a long term relationship. If it does, it is lacking. It is sad. It is missing a piece.

Moon oppose Moon is fine in a platonic relationship. In fact, I think it is excellent in a platonic relationship because each person brings an opposite perspective. This is wonderful with friends. However, if one takes this to lovers, there will be an essential piece missing, in my opinion. When one partner cries, the other will not know how to comfort him. There is a lack of simpatico due to the opposite Moons.

One may give an opposite  perspective but one will not give true heart. The true heart resonates on a different spectrum. Hence, there is angst. Hence, there is sadness and loneliness.  I don’t think a wonderful relationship can exist with Moon square or Moon oppose Moon. Can a relationship endure? Of course. Will it fill your heart. To me, the answer is NO.

Sexuality is from the head up, not the neck  down. Attraction may be fleeting but if there is no soul, it soon  becomes empty. It becomes vapid. It becomes sad. Hence, if one has an attraction and nothing else, one will be left with a sense of angst as if one has eaten a big meal but found it to be  cardboard. Any relationship is based on soul. Without soul, there is no music. There is no beat. There is no anything but the sacharrine music that plays on elevators.

Let’s leave Moons, for the moment. However, one can never truly leave Moons because without Moon connections, there is not much of anything but we need to move on. The worst aspects for sexuality would be the worst aspects for simpatico. These would include one of the partnersshutting down the life passion/energy  of the other. This can be done in a number of ways. People can tear down the core of another. People can step on the love of another. People can diminish the shine of another. I will talk about all of these and how they erode relationships.

If one person’s Saturn squares another person’s Moon, the Saturn person may throw cold water on the sensitive feelings of the Moon person. We, all have sensitive feelings.  Even the toughest person hurts. Even the toughest person wants to be loved. Hence, when a Saturn is square a Moon, the Moon person feels as if he cannot measure up.  If you can imagine a father who chastises you when you get an A minus and not an A, that is how this aspect feels, in my opinion.

If a Saturn squares a Venus, one may feel as if one is not attractive enough. One may feel as if one is not pretty enough for the partner. The Saturn may transmit this message to the Venus person, without words, perhaps, but it will be transmitted. The Venus person may feel like she has to be perfect in order to be loved by the Saturn person. This hurts a great deal. I have been here, so can talk from personal experience. I am sure many of you have, too. Our topic is the worst aspects for sexuality. I think one can imagine that the above two aspects would put a terrible damper on passion. Hence, the worst aspects for sexuality are, always, the worst aspects. for simpatico.

I would be remiss if I did not talk about a nuclear sexuality. This would be Nessu/Deja. If one wants to hang from the light fixtures, one will do so with Nessus/Deja. One may go emotional and sexual  places one never thought one could. One may  touch feelings one never thought one could. However, will it last? My answer would be No. Is it worth it? My answer would be maybe.

I think Nessus/Deja relationships deepen you, as well as humble you. The most judgemental person  is the  one who has not been humbled. I have seen Nessus/Deja relationships take a proud person and put her in the dust. Hence, she does not judge the next person who comes along

Mars figures into sexuality. Mars is drive. For some Mars signs, another Mars sign will not work well. A Cancer Mars like me does not work with another Cancer Mars. Who would chase the other around the couch 😀  A Scorpio Mars is perfect for a Cancer Mars because he has get up and go. Also, a water sign would understand the workings of another water sign. Mars has to work well in the synastry for there to be attraction.

If there is a Mars square Mars or  a Mars oppose Mars, it may be too strident. If a Mars works well with a Sun, there can be a nice balance. For a Gemini Sun, an Aquarius Mars works well. Hence, we have an Air sun trine an Air Mars. There are many possible good placements for the Mars in synastry. In my real world examples( and the charts I have done), people seem to be attracted to the same Mars signs over and over.

The Vertex and Anti-Vertex in Synastry

When your Vertex is contacted by another person’s planet or point, a fated relationship is indicated. In my article which looked at common Synastry Aspects in the charts of married couples, I noticed the Vertex and/or Anti-Vertex of at least one of the partners was often activated. Strong Vertex and Anti-Vertex aspects in the Composite chart also indicate a fated union. Indeed, Composite Charts featuring a Vertex/Descendant conjunction are common among married, fated, “meant-to-be” relationships.

What is the difference between the Vertex and Anti-Vertex? The Vertex is considered a “second Ascendant,” while the Anti-Vertex is considered a “second Descendant.” As such, Vertex connections in synastry signify a highly personal connection. Some astrologers have said that the Anti-Vertex is less significant than the Vertex, but based on personal experience, as well as my observations of other synastry charts, I disagree. Perhaps these astrologers the Vertex is stronger in synastry because it is always found in someone’s 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, or 9th houses, which are the houses that represent our relationships with “others.” Having someone else’s planets in these houses (especially the 5th, 7th, and 8th houses), conjunct the Vertex or not, indicate a high level of compatibility and intimacy. The Anti-Vertex, on the other hand, is located in the opposite house of the Vertex (the 11th, 12th, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd houses), which relate to personal concerns and our private worlds. As such, if conjunctions to the Anti-Vertex occur in synastry, this person may become a significant part of your “inner world.” As someone who has had conjunctions to both my Vertex and Anti-Vertex in synastry, I can tell you the “pull” is equally strong in both cases.

The Vertex and anti-Vertex show us who we are unconsciously attracted to. When Vertex and Anti-Vertex aspects show up in synastry or composite, the two people are irresistibly attracted to one another. The Vertex owner feels the planet/point person is the “man/woman of their dreams.” You usually meet each other unexpectedly and ‘out of the blue.” It is fate that brings the two of you together, and you immediately feel a strong connection when you first meet. The feeling that the other person will change your life can be quite strong. You feel for this person in a way you’ve never felt before.

You will meet this person when your Vertex/Anti-Vertex is contacted by a transiting planet. I’ve also found that strong Vertex/Anti-Vertex connections in the Solar Return indicate the year in which you will meet that special someone.

For example, the year I met a man with whom I have a Vertex-Venus aspect in synastry, my Solar Return chart showed a Vertex-North Node conjunction in the 5th house of love and romance. In addition, the day I met him, transiting Mars was conjunct my natal Venus exactly.

Synastry Aspects with the Vertex

Sun- Vertex/Anti-Vertex: The Sun person’s ego expression and core-being encapsulates the Vertex person’s idea of the perfect mate. An instant friendship is indicated. There is a feeling of destiny between the two of you, and you feel that you can go the distance together.

Moon- Vertex/Anti-Vertex: This is an indication of an emotional, supportive, and nurturing connection. The Vertex person is unconsciously attracted to the Moon person’s emotional nature. There is a natural attraction to one another; you feel instantly safe and comfortable with one another. In fact, it can be so comfortable and wonderful, that it is difficult to be without one another!

Mercury- Vertex/Anti-Vertex: A strong intellectual and mental link exists when someone’s Mercury is conjunct or opposite another person’s Vertex. The two of you feel instinctively comfortable talking with one another. Unless there are strong romantic links in the rest of the synastry, this combination can feel like a brotherly-sisterly connection. I have this with a close friend of mine. I love talking to him, and I’m so attracted to his mind.

Venus- Vertex/Anti-Vertex: This is a prime indicator of a fated, romantic link that will change your life forever. The feelings of love and romance are incredibly strong. The Vertex person finds the Venus person beautiful, charming, and the “man/woman of their dreams.” The love is so strong that separating from one another is incredibly difficult.

Mars- Vertex/Anti-Vertex: This indicates a highly sexual link. The sexual charisma and assertiveness of the Mars person is highly attractive to the Vertex person. Sex is transformative and intense; you can’t get enough of one another!

Jupiter- Vertex/Anti-Vertex:  This connection indicates a benevolent union, full of generosity, good will, and indulgence! The two of you (especially the Vertex person) feel good about yourselves when you are together. The Jupiter can improve your career life and help you achieve your ambitions.

Saturn- Vertex/Anti-Vertex: The Saturn person acts as a stabilizing force in the Vertex person’s life. The Saturn person may be somewhat of a “fatherly” type to the Vertex person, offering practical advice and guidance. Saturn represents “karma,” while the Vertex represents “fate,” so the relationship is likely to have a highly significant effect on the both of them. The feeling of responsibility and commitment to the Saturn person is high, and it will be hard for the couple to separate because of this.

Uranus- Vertex/Anti-Vertex: The Uranus person acts as a revolutionizing, destabilizing force in the Vertex person’s life. The attraction is high, as is the sense of excitement when the two of them get together. Uranus opens the Vertex person’s mind to a variety of possibilities. The area in which the Uranus person revolutionalizes the Vertex person is represented by the house in which the conjunction resides.

Neptune- Vertex/Anti-Vertex: The Vertex person is magically drawn to the Neptune person. The Vertex person easily “loses” herself in the Neptune person, and feels as though the Neptune person fulfills their innermost dreams and fantasies of the perfect mate. This is a highly spiritual, magnetic, and dreamy relationship.

Pluto- Vertex/Anti-Vertex: The Pluto person has a transformative effect on the Vertex person. The two of you were destined to meet, indeed. This is an opportunity for the Vertex person’s personal growth, which will be achieved by a highly intense and sexual relationship with the Pluto person. Check which house the conjunction is in to get more details as to what kind of transformation will take place.

Node- Vertex/Anti-Vertex: This is one of the prime indicators of marriage in synastry. The Vertex person has a powerful effect on the Node person’s personality, helping them develop the qualities they need to develop in this life. The two of you were fated to meet, and were destined to learn a lot from one another. An instant sense of familiarity is indicated, since the South Node is being aspected by the other person’s Vertex or Anti-Vertex, as well. The two of you have certainly met before, and have unfinished business to take care of. The attraction is magnetic, powerful, and will transform the both of you forever. Check the house position the conjunction resides in order to get a better idea of how these energies will manifest in each person’s life.

For example, the love of my life’s North Node is conjunct my Vertex in the 8th house in Cancer. Our relationship was highly intimate, transformative, and sexually intense (8th house), as well as nurturing, loving, and caring. I greatly helped him develop sexually, as well as emotionally, and he had a similar effect on me. I will never, ever forget him, and he is still hanging on to our relationship, even though we broke up a long time ago.

Ascendant-Vertex: When someone’s Vertex is conjunct your Ascendant, your Vertex is conjunct their Ascendant. This is an indicator of an intense attraction. The two of you may easily stay together for the rest of your lives because of the intense attachment you feel for one another. The physical attraction is off the charts, and the feeling of attraction is instant. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have this aspect.

Descendant-Vertex: The two of you are inexplicably drawn to one another. A feeling of fatedness permeates your relationship. This is an excellent indicator of marriage or, at least, a very significant relationship, which will transform both person’s concepts of love and relationships forever.

Synastry: love asteroids

The Love Asteroids: Cupido (763), Amor (1221), Eros (433) and Psyche (16)
By C. Marguerite Hafeman

So much more information and insight on romantic issues can be found by looking at the natal positions of those asteroids most commonly associated with the pursuit of love. Let’s take a cruise on down past Venus and Mars, check out how Cupido, Amor, Eros and Psyche can make the dance of love that much more piquant and complex.

Asteroid Cupido: In Greek myth, Cupid is the son of Venus; his job was to “wound” the unwary with his arrows of love; awaken a consuming affection directed towards a particular object of desire. In one well-known tale, Cupid becomes entangled with Psyche, a beautiful king’s daughter who has roused the jealousy of Venus; the tale is actually an allegory about how the soul obtains a true understanding of love by undergoing much suffering and hard experience.

In astrology, the asteroid Cupido by itself would perhaps be associated with the trials of love associated with the initial enthrallment and acts of seduction performed in order to obtain the love object, not the sexual act itself. Examples of an overactive Cupido can include crushes, cultivating romance for the sake of the game or putting the object of desire up on a pedestal. In the dark sense, romantic enthrallment can originate out of a love for the chase, only to abandon the prey once it is caught. Asteroid Cupido is not to be confused with Alfred Witt’s Uranian body Cupido, which is associated more with family, marriage, tantra and art.

The natal sign and house Cupido is in would indicate the style, tone and preferred arena of action for an individual’s romantic powers; aspects made to Cupido would pertain to the circumstances, positive or negative, under which one would be drawn into a dance of courtship with the object of love. Hard planetary aspects made to Cupido can relate either to that quality which particularly excites us in generating attraction or the barriers and obstacles we erect between ourselves and the object of desire. The latter could include actual physical obligations, hang-ups, fears, perfectionism, and a need for control or becoming enthralled with someone who is patently unobtainable. Or we may be essentially unobtainable ourselves, wrapped in a narcissic contemplation of the self. A strong Cupido in positive aspect to any of the planets would make one highly desirable to others in the ways expressed by the planet being aspected. For example, a native with a sixth house Cupido conjunct Venus in Capricorn and both in trine to a second house Saturn in Virgo could present as seductively overwhelming to someone turned on by financially stable, enterprising and fatherly authority figures.

Cupido unaspected or retrograde could relate to a tendency to repress and/or disown one’s own real needs in the exchange of love, instead sublimating these qualities to a set of conditions put forth by the desired object, or sublimation in favor of an unrealistic set of conditions that are then projected onto the desired object. The common pattern would be to fall in love with surface qualities first such as beautiful face and figure, a sweet demeanor, and a kind voice; then discover what the person is really like later. Often the proposed love object has no interest in fulfilling the others own personal needs for love and affection. Painful rejection happens because the Cupido person did not allow an honest appraisal of their own real needs in the first place, nor clearly perceived the needs and nature of the person being pursued. One has fallen for an image and a presentation, rather than the real person.

Natal sign position has an influence on Cupido’s style and tone. In Aries one is inclined to go directly and aggressively after the object of desire, however may not stay around once having “scored”. Placed in Gemini, Cupido can be a mark of the silver-tongued devil, the two-faced fella. A Cupido placed in Virgo could attract with clean, earthly sensuality or a penchant for organization. Going by the house, a first house Cupido for example represents someone whose personal image and presentation is calculated to magnetize infatuation in others. A fourth house placement may seduce through home cooking; in the ninth, perhaps wow dates with cultural events. A twelfth house Cupido might be prone to seduction via pornography or fantasy; can be fascinated with alternative forms of lovemaking or can become an object of compulsive desire, romance or erotic pleasuring for the collective. An example of a strongly placed Cupido who seduced the masses is Rudolph Valentino, premiere professional lover of the silver screen. He had Cupido in the twelfth house at 28° Virgo 43′ conjunct his Ascendant at 00°Libra 54′.

Asteroid Amor: Amor is the Roman god of love; the asteroid represents compassion, empathy and loving kindness. As astrologer Demetra George notes, Amor represents a state of loving rather than falling in love. Amor can represent love of anything dear to the heart; George suggests that the archetype functions as the intermediary between the sensual love of Venus and the higher, platonic love of Neptune. Astrologer Zane B. Stein relates Amor to idealized love and related feelings. This would be warmth and love as one believes it should be; a person with a strongly placed Amor believes in the notion of “true love” and searches for the “soul mate”. Martha Lang-Wescott notes that the sign, house and aspect pattern associated with Amor demonstrates conditions that are put on “unconditional giving and loving”; therefore the natal placement can show what keeps us from living up to our own ideals and expectations of what love really is. It can also symbolize what we substitute for love, what were our role models for love and our experience and examples of true, perfect and ideal love.

The natal house Amor occupies is where the person believes they will be able to express this highest form of love. Since the asteroid represents an ideal, if it is afflicted the person can feel incapable of achieving his ideal love or unworthy of being given love. One may even do self-sabotage in order to avoid experiencing love up close and real, since unconditional love does not easily exist within a framework of control and predictability. Zane suggests that planet in square or opposition to Amor can represent something else desirable that is preferred to love. One person’s Amor conjunct a planet in another’s chart brings feeling of love, however if that person also has a natal planet in hard aspect to Amor, it conflicts with the other person’s chart and the result is a volatile state of love/hate.

Amor in opposition to planets or other love asteroids can indicate a situation where opposites attract; the loved one functions as a devil’s advocate or as an expression of one’s own shadow. Hard aspects in general tends to link the native up with people whose concept of love and sharing is very different from their own, resulting in various distortions of the impulse to love such as withholding, manipulating, caretaking, domination-submission scenarios etc.

Amor retrograde could intensify perfectionist conditions placed on the attainment of love. Correspondingly, the individual can be overly idealistic, controlling or attach a list of entitlements to their definition of love; conversely they may be judgmental of humanity at large, or feel so intrinsically unlovable that they never reach out to anyone in love. They might again attract those who cannot and will not return their affections in a normal way. To the degree that the concept of love has been distorted (e.g. associated essentially with a certain standard of perfection, pain or sexual dysfunction,) will be the degree to which one attracts those who are unsuitable and even damaging to them.

The sign and house Amor is found in can indicate the nature of issues that can block or interferes with the exchange of or participation in earthly, obtainable love. For example, Amor in Taurus and the second house can be very materialistic, putting money before love; or they require a lover who will cater to all sensual demands, in and out of bed. Placed in Cancer and the sixth house Amor might represent a compulsive caretaker of those selected for appearing weak in some way or it could represent someone who makes excessive, child-like demands for nurturing on others. In Pisces one can attract experiences of victimization and exploitation in connection with love; placed in the third house they may haunt the local strip joints to find it. Asteroid Amor in Leo might require constant adulation and assurances for being the wonderful lover they think they are; placed in the tenth house, they may be adored as powerful authority figures. Rock musician Jimi Hendrix was born with asteroid Amor in his tenth house of career and public life, in square to Pluto and the Vertex of Fate in the eighth house of sex, death, power and occult influences. Jimi’s music certainly had an enchanting effect; the same combination points to the circumstances surrounding his untimely death from complications related to taking drugs.

Asteroid Eros: Demetra George states that Eros was “a primal, phallic god born out of Chaos (the Void) at the beginning of time.” He was later known as the son of Mars and Venus and was considered ruler of sexual desire. Ideally Eros is supposed to represent the tantric path of transforming instinctual sexual drive into skilled erotic love as a way to enlightenment. Beyond that, Eros is that which “turns us on”, an emotional force that drives the desire for physical, sexual consummation.

In a chart Eros would symbolize our passion, that which sexually attracts us, our sexual preference and the primal font of desire-energy. A person with a strong Eros would be moved to periodically re-create the experience of finding and being in love A well-represented Eros seeks regular physical contact with others, especially involving sex. Add charisma and the ability to charm anyone, especially if Eros is conjunct the Ascendant, Venus or Mars. Eros conjunct Sun, Moon, Venus or Mars can be quite liberal with their favors when circumstances permit. According to astrologer Zane Stein, if one person’s Eros makes an aspect to another person’s planet, then the Eros person is smitten with the planet person and planet person often returns the feeling, even if his Eros makes no reciprocal aspect.

Eros shows our longing for completeness and along with Amor provides clues for finding a “soul mate”. By aspect to another’s planets or points, it can also symbolize the force of love which can change that person’s life. Transiting Eros can be a harbinger of the new love affair or signal the appearance of sudden attractions, erotic feelings, thoughts and dreams. Astrologer Kim Falconers’s delineations of Eros by house, sign and aspect are recommended as a valuable resource for interpretation.

Martha Lang-Wescott mentions Eros retrograde as denoting a state where the sexual interests and compulsions of other people to which one is sexually attracted, create difficulty as in when a partner seeks satisfaction through internet porn instead of with an actual person. There can also be repression of the sex drive on occasion, sexual dysfunction, premature sexual experiences or a tendency to seek outlets for unconventional sexual fulfillment. Eros in quincunx aspect can represent guilt and over-reaction towards the sexual experience; a waning quincunx can show that others make you feel that you should do more to please the partner sexually. Actress Elizabeth Taylor, known for her sensual and seductive roles in cinema, has Eros at 4° Pisces 38′, right between her natal Mars at 1°Pisces 33′ and Sun-Mercury at 7° Pisces; all located in her third house of basic communications. This combination is given public focus by an opposition to dreamy and cinematic Neptune and asteroid Psyche, both retrograde at 6° Virgo in Elizabeth’s tenth house of career and public life.

Eros. The sign position of the Asteroid, Eros, can reveal some of our erotic turn-ons, as well as the level of our erotic nature.

Eros in Synastry

Is your love as attracted to you, as you are to him/her? How does Eros fit into your synastry? Order a synastry report and find out now! astroladyconsultations@gmail.com

The Asteroid Eros represents erotic love. Eros represents what turns us on. Eros represents our passionate and erotic energy and how we use it. When someone’s planet touches our natal Eros in synastry, it is as if we have been stuck by Cupid’s arrow. We are mesmerized, enchanted, and even obsessed with this person. You want to merge into this individual and build an intimate bond with them. It is generally thought that when your Eros makes an aspect to another person’s planet or point, you have a big crush on that person, and may even feel obsessed with them.

The conjunction is the most potent aspect, followed by the opposition. The square indicates attraction, but at the same time, friction and frustration. The trine and sextile are pleasing and harmonious, but the connection is not as intense as it is with the hard aspects.

Eros-Sun: This relationship will serve to help each person discover their erotic sides. The Eros person may feel obsessed with the Sun person, and the Sun person is turned on by the Eros person’s sexual energy. Just by being him/herself, the Sun person stimulates the Eros person’s sexual desires and need for intimacy. The Sun person feels more alive and energetic around the Eros person, as Eros puts the Sun person in touch with their most erotic, taboo desires.

Eros-Moon: This connection combines emotional love with erotic love. This is a very deep and intimate connection. The Eros person is deeply drawn to the Moon person’s emotional nature. Eros wants to experience a deep bond with the Moon person, based on emotional sharing and eroticism. The Moon person is deeply turned on by the Eros person’s intensity and sexual charisma. Eros forces the Moon person to get in touch with their erotic nature, while the Moon person makes the Eros person feel nurtured and understood.

Eros-Venus: This is an indication of an explosive and irresistible attraction. Eros is very drawn to the Venus person’s grace, charm, and beauty, and deeply desires intimacy with them. Venus is drawn to Eros’ sexual charisma and intensity. Venus’ sensuality turns on the Eros person’s sexual desires and erotic nature. Eros feels their senses are triggered when the Venus person is around them. This is a highly magnetic bond which borders on the irresistible!

Eros-Mars: This is one of my favorite Eros aspects! The god of erotic love meets the planet of sex! This is a very good indication of sexual compatibility. The two of you may be sexually obsessed with one another. The sex is very satisfying for the both of you. The difference between them is that the Mars person may see the sex as less of an erotic “merging” than the Eros person, but the attraction is nevertheless strong.

Eros-Jupiter: Eros’ feelings of love and passion are expanded by Jupiter’s jovial and optimistic nature. Jupiter shows Eros new ways of sexual expression, while Eros stimulates Jupiter’s desire for intimacy and passion. Eros is happy to have such an open-minded and generous lover.

Eros-Saturn: This connection sometimes indicates a love-hate scenario. The Eros person may feel that the Saturn person refuses to accept the attraction they have for the Eros person. Eros is nevertheless attracted to the Saturn person’s stability and maturity. Perhaps the Eros finds the Saturn person erotic in a “father figure” or authoritarian sort of way.

Eros-Uranus: This connection is electric and exciting. The Uranus person opens the Eros person’s mind to a variety of sexual possibilities. At the same time, Eros may feel disappointed when Uranus seems distant and hard to reach, as Eros desires complete intimacy and erotic merging with the Uranus person.

Eros-Neptune: This connection is both erotic and dreamy. As such, the passion and intimacy you share with one another is akin to a fairy tale romance. The Eros person stimulates the Neptune person’s sexual fantasies, and Eros is drawn to Neptune’s compassionate nature. Neptune intuitively understands what Eros wants and needs in terms of eroticism and intimacy, and gladly provides it.

Eros-Pluto: This is a great aspect, as both Eros and Pluto seek the same things when it comes to relationships: intensity, transformation, and a high level of intimacy. This is a highly obsessive and explosive union. The two will enjoy exploring sexual taboos with one another. They feel they are fated to be with one another. The attraction is magnetic and irresistible, and the couple might experience dramatic highs and lows throughout their relationship, due to the intensity of feelings involved.

Eros-Ascendant: The Eros person takes immediate notice of the Ascendant person. He finds her extremely sexy and physically attractive. The Ascendant person’s physical appearance triggers the Eros person’s most intense sexual feelings. Eros square Ascendant: The Eros person is very attracted to the Ascendant person, yet may at the same time feel that the Eros person is very different than who they are generally attracted to. Nevertheless, the Eros person’s erotic feelings are stimulated, and the desire is strong.

Eros-Descendant: The Eros person is irresistibly attracted to the Descendant person, while the Descendant person feels the Eros person is the lover of their dreams. The Eros person’s sexuality and passion are highly attractive to the Descendant person. The Eros person learns more about their sexual power and physical desires through their relationship with the Descendant person.

Eros-Psyche: Eros and Psyche are natural mates. If they are conjunct in synastry, a soul mate connection is indicated. Eros and Psyche were mythical lovers, and were brought together by fate. The story of Eros and Psyche is one of deep and transformative love, but their union was not devoid of hardship. In fact, the two of them had to go through significant lengths just to be together. When this aspect shows up in synastry, the relationship is bound to be significant in both their lives, but their relationship may not always be easy. The many hardships the couple will endure will only draw them closer together. The Psyche person may have dreamed of the Eros person before they even met. The Eros person finds the Psyche beautiful, not only on the outside, but on the inside, as well; Eros loves Psyche for her soul.

Eros-North Node: My ex boyfriend and I had this aspect in synastry, and boy was it hot! As the Eros person, he pulled me out of my sexual comfort zone into the depths of true pleasure and intimacy. Our relationship was highly sexual, and we learned a lot from one another in this department. Him and I were drawn together like magnets. I always felt the sex was getting better and better, even after four years! I still don’t think we fully discovered one another sexually, even after all that time. I always felt there was so much more to experience with him, and he felt the same way (possibly even more me!).

Eros-South Node: This is a highly significant aspect. The two of you were likely lovers in a past life. The sex between the two of you is highly erotic, but at the same time comfortable and familiar. While the potential for growth is repressed with this aspect, it is nevertheless a very satisfying and magnetic connection.

What About Asteroid Psyche? Psyche is a connotation for the soul; astrologers exhibit some disagreement in the meaning of Psyche in the natal chart, and how its position should be interpreted. Much has been made of the story about Psyche and Cupid, with associated connotations about finding the “soul mate.” But so often in real life, the soul mate is not the one who sweeps us off our feet, carrying us to eternal co-habitation in mutual bliss; rather they turn out to be the one who teaches the difficult lessons in life, delivering some pain along the way. Under the ides of Psyche one may be brought into confrontation with their own karmic issues regarding relationship, the conditions placed on love and one’s own unique expression of love.

Martha Lang-Wescott suggests that Psyche’s position “represents a point of damage…a psychological wound or trauma from which one does not really recover.” A transit to Psyche can trigger a re-enactment of the pain or an old situation that got the best of one. The intrinsic concept of Psyche is “being purified by suffering.” Wescott also notes that a natal Psyche retrograde can indicate someone who projects their problems onto others, live in denial through suppression of certain feelings and truths and/or being willfully blind to the damage they can inflict on others.

Demetra George has a much more positive take on Psyche, suggesting that the asteroid represents “the principle of being psychically attuned and bonded to another human being.” Here Psyche is supposed to be a higher octave of Venus, love and psychic attunement to another at its most refined state. George maintains that softer aspects made with other planets and points can facilitate empathetic connection to others, while harder aspects indicate a lack of sensitivity. She suggests that Psyche power can express as mental telepathy, empathy, the ability to channel and direct energy fields or the ability to create material product; depending on the elemental designation of the sign the asteroid occupies.

Perhaps Psyche can be regarded as a facilitator for the power of love-and other archetypal instinctual forces- as channeled or not, on the physical plane. Therefore, for the purposes of this discussion, the asteroid is not included specifically as a love indicator. But its position and the aspects it makes should be considered in an examination of a natal chart, since it represents a most powerful pivot for better or worse, in the conduct of human affairs as pertains to the pursuit of love and being loved. Star tennis player Venus Williams has asteroid Psyche at 16°Taurus in conjunction to asteroid Chiron at the same degree, both in the eighth house of sex, death, control and power issues; these are in trine to her Mars at 17° Virgo 56′ in the twelfth house of mastery. Her formidable athletic ability could be said to have its roots in deep and mysterious places of the soul, nurtured by a conduit into primal collective energy.

Below are a few observations made by the writer, on the love asteroids in hard aspect with each other and in association with major chart points and planets. Note that the magnetically attracting aspect of conjunction doesn’t necessarily translate into a “nicer” person or one who has an easier time with love relationships. For example, sociopath Charles Manson has a conjunction of Eros exact on his Jupiter in Scorpio, located in his seventh house of partners and right on the Descendant; this placement serves as a symbol for distorted projection of the sex drive, rather than as an overwhelming desire to sexually please the partner.

Square or opposition between Eros and Amor: Sex is considered as separate from love. One may keep a mistress for great sex and a wife for serving the ideal of “pure” love in a committed relationship. Or this could be someone who loves being social, however keeps the love object at home. A softer contact between these two asteroids could symbolize a tantric union between erotic desire and platonic concepts of love and friendship.

Square or opposition between Eros and Cupido: This aspect can indicate excitement and erotic stimulation generated by playing the seductive love games you enjoy, in the company of someone who physically turns you on and who can play games too. In a square the exercise may degenerate into competition; in an opposition that which initially attracts you may be the very traits in another you seek to bring into line later.

Square or opposition between Cupido and Amor: Can indicates one who plays seductive love games in order to feel sexy or desirable, but who reserves their highest form of love for someone or something else in another setting altogether. Or the preliminary games of love constitute a test to see how much and in what manner the other is prepared to give.

Square or Opposition between Psyche and a Love Asteroid: Introduces a wounding element into the mix, wherein the individual may initially attempt to split off emotional and love needs from the necessary challenges and disillusioning experiences that must come with earthly life. Conversely, there may be a pattern of struggle and frustration around trying to get various love objects to cooperate with the individual’s expectations of sacred union, perfect romance, endless attraction, utopia of twin-soul compatibility, etc.

Any of the Love Asteroids in Strong Aspect to the Moon’s Nodes, Midheaven or Ascendant: Indicates that personal concepts of love are influenced by collective myths, taboos or longings; or can indicate a love affair with the public at large or the production of a product that arouses a sense of passion in the public. For example, Pyotr Tchaikovsky was a 19th century composer who produced music that is still widely played today; his Eros is in conjunction with the North Node at 2° Pisces; while his Amor at 5° Taurus is in sextile or trine with the Moon’s Nodes at about 3° Virgo-Pisces, Chiron at 6° Cancer and the Ascendant-Descendant angles of the birth chart at 9° Cancer.

A Love Asteroid Unaspected or Weakly Aspected in a Natal Chart: Can actually represent a sizeable problem for the native, in that the energy represented by the placement then tends to express in an unconscious and unrestrained manner. This state of being matters because the expression of love and attainment of it in interaction with others constitutes a vital aspect of human existence. In this circumstance, aspects made with another person’s planets or points can trigger all sorts of surprising phenomenon good or bad, until the individual comes to a conscious realization of the psychological dynamics insinuated by the natal sign and house placement of the asteroid.

Love Asteroids in Aspect to Planets:

Sun: The Sun represents essential identity, the true center of one’s reason for being. Sun located close to a love asteroid would take the native’s love act nation-wide; a love asteroid in hard aspect to the Sun could have the effect of blocking either one’s own ability to love others or conversely can direct libido energy onto other external targets. Issues around parity in giving and receiving would concern aspects made to either Sun or Moon. Witness asteroid Eros in conjunction to the Sun, both in square to Venus; in a client’s chart this indicated conscious suppression of her own formidable female sexual nature by becoming overweight instead.

Moon: The Moon represents security needs and the nurturing function; but in aspect to love asteroids the expression of this principle can go in weird directions. For example, a Moon in Aquarius person would likely require a certain amount of novelty, detachment and independence; they can therefore be drawn to the eccentric, unearthly, unavailable or fascist personality, depending on personal preference. It’s another issue entirely, as to whether such traits in a potential loved one are actually healthy for a long-term or intimate relationship. Parental murderer Eric Menendez has Cupido and Amor in Pisces closely trine natal Moon in Scorpio and Neptune in Sagittarius; the two planets are straddling the foundation of the chart, pointing to unconscious mother, nurturing and security issues.

Mercury: With Mercury involved, communication is employed as a seductive turn-on. In return, the object of desire should be able to equally entertain the other with witty repartee, new information, interesting gossip, intellectual dialogue, etc. Talk show host Merv Griffin had Amor in Taurus and the eleventh house of community affairs, tightly in square to Mercury in Leo located in his second house of income. If natal Mercury is in a water sign and in aspect to a love asteroid, one could be skilled at making amorous contact with another via natural bioelectric resonance, psychic ability or astral visions.

Venus: A love asteroid teamed with the Goddess of Love should be a slam-dunk, but actually the combination can often translate into excessive behavior around matters of romance. A narcissist with Venus contacts can present as an object of desire or one who can command desire in others; alternatively there can be a lack of discrimination and a disregard for boundaries, one’s own or other peoples’. This is an over-the-top “charisma ray” that can easily be re-directed towards pleasurable overindulgence of all kinds, from food to drugs to sex. As a candidate for a sex object that conquered the masses, Marilyn Monroe had Eros in Capricorn trine Venus in Aries. Functioning at a darker level of interaction, serial murderer Ted Bundy had Cupido in Capricorn sextile Venus in Scorpio; he had no difficulty seducing his female victims into “taking a ride.”

Mars: There is no denying that Mars up close to a love asteroid can endow the native with incredible sex appeal. Actor Antonio Banderas has Eros almost exactly conjunct Mars in Gemini, in square to Pluto and Venus in Virgo, sigh; while sex kitten Bridgett Bardot has Cupido conjunct her Mars in Leo. The Martian drive in hard aspect to love asteroids can show up strongly in the charts of prominent athletes and those who traffic in violence. For example, martial artist and film star Jean-Claude Van Damme has Cupido at 15 ° Aries 27′ retrograde in his sixth house of work, in square to Mars in Cancer elevated in the ninth house of higher mind.

Film director Oliver Stone, famous for presenting violence as cinematic art has Eros at 21 ° Cancer 17′ and the ninth house of philosophy in tight square to a Mars-Chiron conjunction in social sign Libra and the twelfth house of appeal to the masses. We must also include O.J. Simpson, as both a superior athlete and possible performer in a heinous crime of passion. He has asteroids Amor and Cupido in conjunction on either side of his natal Mars at 6° Gemini, these also stand in opposition to asteroid Eros at 3° Sagittarius retrograde.

Jupiter: Jupiter traffics in belief systems; indicating attraction to someone or something which aligns or not, with one’s own standards for approved social behavior, or conversely will judge or be judged for beliefs or mannerisms, with holding or granting approval accordingly. The native might also be drawn to those who will encourage them to go over the top in romantic and sensual indulgence, travel, sports, or religious proclivities. Evangelist Billy Graham had asteroid Amor in social sign Libra and his seventh house of partners, in square to Jupiter (organized religious beliefs) in Cancer and his fourth house of root psyche and home base appeal.

Saturn: In the positive sense Saturn with love asteroids can bestow security, stability, and a consistent environment within which to gain trust and to make strides in acquiring wisdom or producing a creative product. Negatively, it can express as power struggles for control, frustration, with holding, withdrawal, sex as a weapon and the inhibition of creative or independent activities in others. Media magnate Rupurt Murdoch has fifth house asteroid Amor (entertainment and speculation) in Aries square his first house Saturn in Capricorn. His life has been marked by a series of ruthless business skirmishes involving both competitors and his sons.

Neptune: Neptune’s involvement can indicate an intimate association with one’s own creative muse, or a liaison with someone who is an addict, misfit or ill in some way. Or we may be moved to project artistic or other bohemian tendencies we do not wish to personally own onto the beloved. Neptune can also bring visions of the loved one as not being of this earth or attuned to higher vibrations. In hard aspects one may habitually employ the rose-colored glasses to their detriment, in determining the suitability of others. Flamboyant entertainer Liberace had asteroid Eros in Aquarius and his second house of income, in opposition to an eighth house (occult contacts, other people’s money) Neptune in Leo. The aspect makes a statement both about his creative muse and the ability to use his talents to generate a fortune over a lifetime.

Uranus: In the New Age sense contact with Uranus would indicate a requirement for surprises, enjoyment of unpredictability, futuristic orientation, even alternative preferences in sexuality. In the reactionary sense one could be excited by control freaks, rules, restrictions and a strong authoritative style. Both types of Uranus contact tend to get off on crisis, drama and disruption until maturity brings about certain realizations. Rock singer Jim Morrison had asteroids Amor and Cupido in Pisces and the first house of basic persona, in square to a Uranus-Mars conjunction (lightening-bolt drive and inspiration) in Gemini in the fourth house of root psyche, besides having asteroid Eros conjunct his Sun (center of identity) in the tenth house of career and public life.

Pluto: Here the contact must result in a transformative experience; close relationships that will consume and reconstruct the native are favored. Attraction must give way to deep emotional catharsis, penetration of the soul, perhaps a visit to the burning ground; nothing else will do. At a slightly less intensive level one might prefer to express their love through chronic power struggles involving sex, money, authority or some other symbol of Leviathan. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis had asteroid Cupido in life-and-death Scorpio in conjunction to her natal Ascendant of persona and both in trine to Pluto in Cancer located in the eighth house of sex, death and other people’s money. These eighth-house issues played out in her life with both husbands Robert Kennedy Jr. and Aristotle Onassis, as classic tragedies presented on a global stage.

Synastry: sexual attraction

1. Magnetic Attraction – (You’re a Magnet for me, baby…)
Look for person A’s birth planets sign conjuncting the angles of person B’s chart (Ascendant/ Descendant magnetic axis or the Midheaven/ I.C. gravity axis). This is especially true of person A’s luminaries and personal planets (Sun, Moon, Venus, and Mars) and especially true of conjuncting person B’s Ascendant/Descendant magnetic axis. This also holds effective for a sign conjunction with person B’s Midheaven/IC gravity axis, but the connection is going to be somewhat “heavier” in nature.
Again, if you find a double whammy – such as person A’s Ascendant conjunct person B’s Moon and person B’s Ascendant conjunct person A’s Moon – then all the better!

2. We May Never Pass This Way Again (Karmic Lovers)
Cross aspects between the Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars, and/or Angles (Ascendant/ Descendant axis or the Midheaven/ I.C. axis) in person A’s chart and person B’s Lunar Nodes.
The conjunction being the most intense and significant connection is the only aspect I currently consider. Again, look for a double whammy.

3. You Are My Destiny (Destiny’s Gate)
Cross aspects between the Sun, Moon, Venus, Ascendant, and/or Midheaven in person A’s chart and person B’s birth Vertex, the Vertex being nicknamed by me as “Destiny’s Gate.” This rule holds especially true in regard to conjunctions and oppositions. Again, look for a double whammy.

4. Let Me Lose Myself in You! (or Calgon, Take Me Away)
Cross aspects between person A’s birth Neptune and person B’s birth luminaries, personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars), and Ascendant/Descendant axis….

The conjunction, trine and sextile aspects are (for the most part) a wee bit “easier” to handle – with the conjunction being the most intense connection.
Cross aspects involving Neptune and the other person’s luminaries, personal planets, and Ascendant/Descendant axis can even hold true with sign conjunctions and oppositions that aren’t necessarily within orb aspect – but generally speaking: the closer, the better.
Finding what’s sometimes called a “double whammy” cross aspect – such as person A’s Neptune conjunct person B’s Venus and person B’s Neptune sextile person A’s Venus — is all the better for creating that special connection feeling.

5. Hey, Venus! (Love in the Afternoon)
Cross aspects between the Sun and/or Moon in person A’s chart and person B’s birth Venus.
This is especially intense with conjunctions and oppositions, but trines and sextiles are awfully comfortable and nice. Again, look for a double whammy.

6. Immortal Lovers (Ooh baby, ooh baby)
Now here’s one you probably haven’t heard of before…
The Immortal Lovers clue concerns the minor asteroids named Eros and Psyche. If this is a relationship between a male and female — then first look for the male’s birth Eros conjuncting the female’s birth Psyche. This even appears to work with sign conjunctions which aren’t in orb. In my experience, finding this cross aspect between lovers is fairly rare… at the same time, finding a double whammy between family members seems to be fairly common (which is sort of a spooky thought, but consistent with many of the differing theories on reincarnation).

7. Soul-mate attraction is greatly influenced by the love asteroids (eros, psyche, sappho, cupido, valentine, amor) , which surprisingly a lot of people are not aware of.

(433) Eros
(80) Sappho
(16) Psyche
(1221) Amor
(447) Valentine
(763) Cupido

The greatest soul mate aspect between these asteroids are eros & psyche, if they conjunct or trine together you can be sure that the relationship between you are your partner is meant to be.
When the asteroids make an aspect to the planets, it would be more one-sided. For example, If your amor trines your lover’s Sun you would have unconditional love for them but the feeling wouldn’t be mutual, they would have to have there amor make a harmonious aspect to one of your planets too.

However, my research verifies Dr. Lehman’s observation that “If one person’s Eros makes an aspect to another person’s planet, the Eros person is smitten with the Planet person.” But I have also found the planet person often returns the feeling, even if his Eros makes no aspect in reciprocation.

The Synastry of physical attraction

Synastry is the art of relationship Astrology. It is a somewhat fascinating and illuminating study of how individuals interact with one another, how the factors of there natal chart find conflict and companionship.

Many of us are familiar with the study of Sun Sign Compatibility and often ask akin to “Does a Cancerian get along with a Leo?” and while these comparisons have some value, they are very general and often just based on a elemental correspondence between the signs.

For a more accurate and overall impression of compatibility between two people many other factors are involved in the evaluation.

Although Synastry itself is a very complex system, we can all (with a little effort) turn to some especially useful methods of studying relationships that will help shed light on our interactions.

With the upcoming Valentines in mind below are some of the traditional pointers of physical compatibility.

When somebody’s Mars falls in your 5th house, heart-pounding reactions and strong romantic/sexual desires and crushes can be activated. You want each other, although the attraction may not last long unless there are other stable aspects and positions in your synastry.

When somebody’s Mars falls in your 8th house, that person inspires deep sexual urges and physical desires in you.

A conjunction of someone’s Mars to any angle (that is, the Ascendant, Descendant, Midheaven-10th cusp, or IC – 4th cusp) in your natal chart will pull out gut reactions and intensity of desire–although the feelings can go either way.

Mars-Sun conjunctions, squares, and oppositions usually inspire a need to make the relationship physical and generate a sort of “buzz” of energy between the two people involved. Trines generate some physical attraction, but of a more pleasant kind.

Venus-Mars conjunctions and squares can inspire quite a bit of fuss and sexual interest, while Venus-Mars sextiles and trines offer a more pleasing, less in-your-face attraction.

Venus-Pluto conjunctions, squares, and oppositions are one of the most potent cross-aspects for sexual and emotional attraction. Although both people are generally attracted to each other, it is the Venus person who is the most enthralled and even obsessed with Pluto—Venus is consumed with the attraction. Ultimately, it is the Pluto person who has the upper hand in terms of whether the relationship is going to endure.

Moon-Mars aspects can generate strong feelings that are often both physical and emotional at once, with the Mars person involved taking most of the initiative in the relationship, which can be very attractive to the Moon person (at least at the outset of the relationship).

Venus-Uranus conjunctions and squares can generate so much interest to the point of enthrallment, and often result in sexual activity between people before they know each other well.

This can be a confusing and destabilizing contact in the long term, but these aspects generally inspire initial attraction. When these relationships last, the Uranus person is often seen as inconstant by the Venus person and there can be many ups and downs.

Mars-Pluto conjunctions and squares are often powerful indicators of initial attraction and sexual intrigue. Trines don’t necessarily draw people together, but once together, they are some of the most powerfully sexual aspects between two charts.

Ascendant-Ascendant conjunctions, sextiles, and trines, while not as strong as the indicators above, give a pleasing sense of physical harmony.

When someone’s 8th house planet or ruler of their 8th house forms a strong aspect with one or more of your planets, you are likely to ignite passion in that person.

The asteroid Eros also plays a role in sexual attraction as well. Most potent are Eros-Venus, Eros-Ascendant, Eros-Psyche, and Eros-Mars links. Conjunctions, oppositions, and trines are often seen as best.

Planets in another person’s first house/Planets conjunct another person’s Descendant: The Ascendant and first house represent our physical appearance and the way we project ourselves to the world. When you have planets in your partner’s first house, or vice-versa, a strong physical attraction is indicated. A woman’s Sun and Mars (masculine planets) represent the kind of man she finds attractive, so having either of these planets in her partner’s first house indicates considerable attraction on her part. A man’s Moon and Venus (feminine planets) indicate the qualities he looks for in a woman, so having either of these planets in his partner’s first house is indicative of physical attraction.

Planets in the 7th house/Conjuct the Descendant: The 7th house and Descendant represent our one-on-one relationships, and describes the qualities of our ideal mate. Thus, having planets in someone’s 7th house in synastry is indicative of mutual attraction. The planet person represents the qualities we lack, the qualities that will serve to “balance” us out. The house person is likely to find the planet person as someone who is “marriage material,” while the Planet person is likely to find the Ascendant person highly attractive. The strongest indicator of physical attraction is when someone’s inner planets fall in the 7th house (especially the Sun).

Planetary overlays in the 5th house: The 5th house represents fun and romance. So, if your planets are overlaid onto your partner’s 5th house, a romantic and sexual attraction is indicated. You love spending time with one another, and the planet person stimulates the house person’s desire for love, sex, and romance. This is especially true if the planet is Venus or Mars; you literally want to jump the person!

Planets in 8th house: The 8th house represents sex and intimacy. This is thus a very powerful synastry overlay to have between partners. In this case, the planet person stimulates the 8th house person’s desire for intimacy. The 8th house person wants to “merge” with the planet person and explore the depths of her sexuality. Hot, hot, hot! This is especially true if your partner’s Venus or Mars (sexual planets) fall in your 8th house. It’s practically irresistible. The 8th house person may even become obsessed, so watch out! This is definitely not a synastry aspect for the faint-hearted.

Sun-Venus synastry aspects: Venus is the planet of beauty and pleasure, while the Sun represents our core being. Thus, synastry aspects involving the Sun and Venus are indicative of a strong physical attraction, especially on the part of the Venus person. The Sun person represents what the Venus person finds beautiful and pleasing, and the Sun person gets a huge ego boost from this! The Venus person adores the Sun person, and the Sun person loves the Venus person’s style and grace. This is a highly romantic aspect, and is one of the best indicator of a lasting romance.

Sun-Mars: Both the Sun and Mars are masculine signs. When they make an aspect in synastry, sexual compatibility is indicated. Your body rhythms match well, and you naturally know how to please one another. Mars is especially sexually attracted to the Sun person, and the Sun person’s sexual desires are stimulated by the Mars person. This aspect represents considerable attraction to each other’s bodies. This is especially true for the conjunction, trine, and sextile. The opposition and square can lead to conflict and ego clashes, but attraction is still indicated.

Venus-Pluto: This is one of the hottest sexual synastry aspects two people can have! Pluto represents sex, obsession, and intimacy, while Venus represents love, beauty, and affection. Together, this spells g-r-e-a-t s-e-x! You stimulate each other’s desire to experience the depths of sexual intimacy. Physical intimacy is especially important with this interaspect; you feel a strong desire to be physically close to each other. In fact, you may find you become obsessed with one another! This aspect also indicates power struggles and domination, especially on the part of the Pluto person. The Pluto person feels a strong desire to “merge” with the Venus person. Pluto finds Venus beautiful and intriguing. Venus is strongly sexually attracted to Pluto, as Pluto puts her in touch with her primal, sexual feelings. This is especially true of the conjunction. The trine and sextile indicate intense, but pleasing and harmonious sexual interactions. These aspects deepen the intimacy shared by the couple, but not in an overly obsessive or destructive way. In the case of the square and opposition, strong sexual energies are also indicated, but this may be accompanied by an unhealthy desire to control one another through manipulation, jealousy, and possessiveness. The square and opposition can also indicate sexual and financial exploitation, as well as abuse. Nevertheless, Venus-Pluto in synastry is just plain hot.

Moon-Mars: In synastry, this is a sign of true sexual compatibility. The attraction is instinctive in nature. This aspect is considered best when the woman is the Moon person, and the man is the Mars person. Like Venus-Mars interaspects, Moon-Mars interaspects represent the yin/yang or male/female energies between couples. The Mars person can instinctively sense the needs of the Moon person, and strives to fulfill them. The Mars person is attracted to the Moon at a very basic level; he finds her basic femininity very sexually appealing. The Moon person is “turned on” by the Mars person’s advances. The attraction is very primal in nature. Together, they fuse emotionalism and feelings into sex, which can be highly satisfying for both parties. I believe all Moon-Mars contacts, whether hard or soft, brings this energy into the partnership. However, the hard aspects can manifest outside the bedroom as emotional arguments and hurt feelings, while the softer aspects indicate supportive energies between the two.

Venus-Mars: This is especially potent when the woman’s Venus is being aspected by the man’s Venus. Even better is when you have a “double-whammy”; when your Venus aspects your partner’s Mars, and when your partner’s Mars aspects your Venus. Venus is the planet of love, affection, and romance, while Mars is the planet of raw sexual energy. Together, they make fireworks! The Mars person feels adored and loved by the Venus person, and finds them beautiful. The Venus person is energized and sexually stimulated by the Mars person. When this interaspect shows up in synastry, true sexual compatibility is indicated. This is especially potent when the woman’s Venus is being aspected by the man’s Mars.

Ascendant/Ascendant Aspects in Synastry: I really don’t think this synastry connection gets enough attention! The Ascendant represents our physical appearance, and the way we project ourselves to the world. Thus, aspects (even hard ones) between two people’s Ascendants indicate considerable attraction. This is especially potent if your Ascendant opposes your partner’s Ascendant (or your Ascendant is conjunct your partner’s Descendant). In this case, your partner is likely to consider you to be the “perfect partner,” in terms of your physical appearance. As a Sagittarius Ascendant, I attract Gemini Ascendant men like crazy!

Eros Synastry Aspects: The asteroid, Eros, represents erotic love, sex, passion and intimacy. I have found that when someone’s personal planets make strong aspects to someone else’s natal Eros, a strong sexual bond and attraction is indicated. I’ve found that the Eros person has a “crush” on the planet person. This is an indicator of great sex, too!

Aspects to Lilith in Synastry: In synastry, Lilith brings an untamed, wild sexual energy, feelings of obsession, and intense, transformative interactions. When your Lilith aspects your someone’s planet (especially the Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars, or the Ascendant), you are magnetically attracted to this person, and can’t get them out of your mind. This aspect shows an amazing amount of sexual chemistry and an obsessive attraction.

Like Pluto, Lilith aspects in synastry act to draw out each person’s sexuality. Lilith sex is tantric, obsessive, and highly addictive. Couples with strong Lilith in synastry have an incredibly strong sexual attraction to one another, and it is difficult to keep them apart! Logic does not apply in Lilith relationships. Indeed, Lilith is what makes a man end a 20-year marriage out of the blue. Indeed, Lilith’s reputation as a “home wrecker” is well deserved. On the plus side, she can break someone free of their safe, habitual behavior.

When exploring the astrology of sexuality, I keep in mind that the entire chart of an individual is involved, but there are some factors that tend to play a larger role than others. Namely:

Mars. The sign of Mars shows us the style in which we express our sexual nature.

Venus. The sign of Venus shows us some of the important “trappings” and foreplay that helps us get in the mood for sex.

Moon. The sign of our Moon shows us some of our underlying emotional needs  that may express themselves as sexual fantasies and needs.

There are several synastry aspects to look out for if you’re searching for your soul mate. These connections show significant attraction and compatibility between the two people, which can easily last a lifetime.

Sun-Moon contacts: Soul Mates generally have strong Sun-Moon connections in the synastry chart. The conjunction and opposition are the most powerful. The trine and sextile are also powerful. With this aspect comes a strong feeling of support and understanding. This aspect is particularly potent when it is the woman’s Moon in aspect to the man’s Sun.

Sun-Venus or Venus-Venus contacts: Sun-Venus contacts are highly touted by astrologers, and for good reason! When this aspect appears in synastry, the couple feels affection and love for one another. If these contacts do not show up in synastry, Venus-Venus contacts can be substituted. When one person’s Venus contacts another person’s Venus, your love styles are similar. You easily get along, and instinctively know how the other person wants to be loved. The conjunction and opposition are most potent, and the trine and sextile are powerful, as well.

Venus-Mars: This aspect is an indicator of passionate love. There exists a great deal of sexual and physical attraction between you. The physical attraction and sexual chemistry is likely to last a lifetime if this aspect shows up in synastry.

Venus-Pluto in synastry: This is a very potent aspect in synastry. This is an indicator of karmic, transformative, obsessive love. Even if the couple separates, they will remember each other for the rest of their lives, due to the depth of passion they shared. This aspect is especially potent if it is mutual (i.e. Person A’s Venus aspects B’s Pluto, and B’s Venus aspects A’s Pluto).

Nodal connections: When Nodal connections are found in synastry, the connection is powerful. Contacts to the South Node demonstrate a past-life connection that has lasted into this life. The two of you have come together to wrap up unfinished business. There exists a haunting chemistry between the two of you that can easily last a lifetime. North Node conjunctions are equally intriguing. The planet person possesses the qualities the Nodal person needs to develop in order to grow spiritually. There is a tremendous attraction between the couple, as well as a feeling of “going somewhere” with each other. Squares to the Nodal axis are very common in synastry, particularly from the Sun or the Moon. In this case, there is a feeling that the couple feels as though they were destined to be together, but the union is a challenging one. This indicates a karmic relationship in which both of you need to work out past-life issues that is preventing your soul growth.

Vertex contacts: The Vertex is like a second Descendant. When touched by transit or progressions, fated events are likely to occur. Similarly, when someone’s personal planet, Ascendant/Descendant, IC/MC, or Vertex aspects your Vertex by conjunction or opposition, a fated relationship is indicated. This is the kind of relationship that will change your life.

Saturn contacts: Saturn in synastry is a binding force, ensuring the longevity of the relationship and a feeling responsibility to one another. Hard aspects between one person’s Saturn and another person’s important planet or point are both challenging as well as binding. In fact, hard aspects from Saturn to another person’s Sun or Moon are very common in the synastry charts of married couples.

Conjunctions to the angles: When one person’s inner planets, Nodes, angles, or Vertex conjunct another person’s AC/DC or IC/MC axis, a strong bond is indicated. The AC/DC is a relationship axis, while the IC/MC axis represents your private and public lives. When another person’s planets or points conjunct any of these angles, the two of you are heading in the same direction in life. There is a feeling of “going somewhere” together. Contacts to the AC shows a strong physical attraction; contacts to the DC indicate the planet person possesses the qualities you look for in a partner. Conjunctions to the IC indicate a nurturing, protective bond, and the two people desire to have a home and family together; Conjunctions to the MC show mutual admiration and appreciation for each others goals.

Venus-Mars interaspects: This is especially potent when the woman’s Venus is being aspected by the man’s Venus. This is especially potent when the woman’s Venus is being aspected by the man’s Venus. Even better is when you have a “double-whammy”; when your Venus aspects your partner’s Mars, and when your partner’s Mars aspects your Venus. When it is the woman’s Mars aspecting the man’s Venus, the man may feel the woman is too aggressive for his taste (this, of course, depends on each person’s individual chart). This is especially true of the conjunction, sextile and trine. In these cases, sexual energies and attraction are indicated on the part of both parties. In the case of the square and opposition, attraction and great sex are still indicated, but the Venus person may find the Mars person overly aggressive and may feel the Mars person is only interested in sex. Conversely, the Mars person may find the Venus person too stuffy or flowery.

Mars-Mars: I cannot stress the importance of having compatible Mars signs, when it comes to great sex! When two peoples’ Mars planets are in harmonious aspects to each other, your sexual energies match well. You like the same things sexually, and it is easy to please one another. Things just feel “natural” with this person. The square and opposition can be tricky, as it indicates discordant sexual styles. However, if there are supportive aspects, the square and opposition can still work.

Mars-Pluto: This synastry aspect is HOT! It indicates overwhelming passion and intensity, due to a raw sexual energy which permeates between the couple. With this aspect, sex is intense and transformative, and the need to be physically close to each other is paramount. The sexual magnetism to each other is strong. One of you might be very physically demanding of the other, which could give rise to conflict and power struggles.
